IMPORTANT WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Team leaders, manufacturing engineers; welders, process, paint, tool crib, and production control
DIRECTS: None
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Leads and demonstrates safety in the workplace. Setup, enter or check programs and operate CNC machining equipment to perform standard or repetitive sequences of operations to meet close tolerance and finish requirements. Operations to include boring, milling, recessing, occasional profiling or contouring, etc. involving recognized tool and fixture applications and proven program format. Work from instructions defining in detail tooling applications and coding, fixture and machine arrangements and console settings. Mount and secure tooling in rack, magazine or turret; align and secure fixtures and work piece and check to establish reference points. Manually cycle machine to check tooling, fixture and/or work alignment, clearances, stops, etc. to program specifications, make adjustments to bring tolerances and finish requirements to specifications. Note and report variations in program sequence, positioning, cycle time, etc. May recommend tooling arrangements, fixtures, operation sequence, etc. May make setups for and instruct Machine Operators of lower classification. Work from part drawings and specifications. Use a variety of precision measuring instruments. Requires a general knowledge of machine shop practices and techniques, machine operation and tooling, as acquired through experience plus additional training on CNC machining equipment. Demonstrate the ability to meet routed hours with acceptable quality.
MAJOR DUTIES:
Set up difficult parts with minimal or no assistance.
Ability to run all categories of machines: basic manual, advanced manual, and tap burner.
Ability to foresee problems and resolve them.
Work from advanced drawings and job layouts.
Machine basic to intermediate parts with a high level of quality.
Ability to make all parts efficiently within guidelines.
Ability and willingness to learn or run other machines.
Functions as a team player with co-workers and other departments.
Trains and mentors’ other employees.
Operates advanced crane and rigging.
Identifies and builds all the necessary tools required.
Perform daily OPM on assigned machine.
Perform calibration of equipment as needed.
Advanced math skills.
Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED/SPECIAL NOTES:
Minimum of 5 years of relevant machining experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 60 pounds.
Long periods of standing.
